Wound Too Tight
Published in Paperback by PublishAmerica, Inc. (10 June, 2002)
Average review score:

Very Good StoryThis is a very good story that will keep the attention of the adult as well as the child. Each time I picked the book up I didn't want to put it down until I found out what was happening next. After putting the book down my mind continued to wonder about the characters and what was happening to them. This story surely keeps the reader entertained chapter after chapter. The suspense is great and the descriptive talent of the writer comes through greatly.
Wound Too TightI have two boys, ages 7 and 10. They did not want me to stop reading. The book was exciting, and the end of each chapter kept us wanting more. I even had a difficult time waiting until the next night to see what was going to happen. The characters were well defined and the story line was easy to follow for my children. A must read for everyone with young boys!

Afghanistan
Published in Hardcover by Trafalgar Square (01 March, 2001)
Average review score:

The Spectre Of An Ancient TimeIn this exceptional volume Chris Steele-Perkins has distilled four separate travel adventures into an enormously effective photo-essay depicting Afghanistan at a time when the now ignominious Taliban were just taking hold of and consolidating their political power (c.1995). Although the book has as its focus unending war and the horrendous impact interminable armed conflict has had on the people of Afghanistan, what is remarkable in Steele-Perkin's work is how the daily pulse of ordinary life lived within a landscape of devastation and ruin manages consistently to emerge through the gloom. Because these wonderfully evocative images are indeed full of life! And full of the great beauty and mystery of the Afghan people. Two written essays (one by the photographer is a splendid travelogue) complement perfectly this accomplished portfolio of haunting images.

The American Tradition in Literature
Published in Hardcover by McGraw Hill College Div (January, 1994)
Average review score:

Good AnthologyI used this book in a college American literature class. It has tons of short stories and full text of a few novels. I forget which are the full text novels aside from "Huck Finn." One thing I like about this book is that it's diverse: it has the "traditional" American literature, but it also includes Richard Wright, Alice Walker, James Baldwin, etc. There are also really helpful footnotes that aide in understanding.

Post-Protest: Plays about South African WomenAn invaluable collection of 10 South African plays about experiences of black women, written from the early 1980's to the late 1990's. It includes works by well-known playwrights like Fatima Dike and Maishe Maponya aswell as new work by previously unpublished playwrights like Lueen Conning and Thulani Mtshali. The plays range from frighteningly serious to hilariously funny.
